End-User License Agreement

This End-User License Agreement ("EULA") is a contract between you and the operator of Helmsman ("we", "us"). By downloading, installing, or using the Helmsman macOS app (the "App"), you agree to this EULA. If you do not agree, do not install or use the App.

License we grant you

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download and use the App on Mac computers you own or control, for your personal or internal business use. This is a license, not a sale: you do not own the App, and all rights not expressly granted here stay with us.

What you may not do

• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App, or try to derive its source code, except to the narrow extent that applicable law expressly permits despite this limit.
• Copy, redistribute, resell, rent, lease, sublicense, or otherwise make the App available to anyone else.
• Modify, adapt, or create derivative works from the App.
• Remove or alter any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notices.
• Use the App to break the law, or to infringe anyone's rights.

Your own tools, accounts, and keys

Helmsman drives software you already run - your own Claude Code, your own terminals, and your own model access or API keys. Your use of those tools and any third-party service (including Anthropic) is governed by their own terms and pricing, not this EULA. You are responsible for the accounts and keys you connect, and for any costs they incur.

Updates

We may release updates, including automatic ones, to fix bugs, improve the App, or keep it working with macOS. Updates are covered by this EULA unless they come with their own terms. We are not obliged to provide any particular update or to support older versions indefinitely.

Ownership

The App, its name, look, and all related intellectual property belong to us or our licensors. Nothing in this EULA transfers any of those rights to you beyond the limited license above.

Direct download - Apple's Mac App Store EULA does not apply

Helmsman is distributed as a direct download from helmsman.sh, not through the Apple Mac App Store. Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement does not apply to the App, Apple is not a party to this EULA, and Apple has no responsibility for the App or any support, warranty, or claims relating to it.

Termination

This license lasts until terminated. It ends automatically if you breach any term of this EULA. You may end it at any time by stopping use of the App and deleting it. On termination, the license to use the App ends, but the disclaimers, liability limits, and ownership terms continue to apply.

No warranty

The App is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or business, arising out of or relating to the App or this EULA. To the extent we are found liable, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us for the App, if any, in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in this EULA excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law, including your non-waivable statutory consumer rights.

Governing law

This EULA is governed by the laws of the Netherlands, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and subject to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have where you live.

Changes to this EULA

We may update this EULA, for example when the App gains new capabilities. The "last updated" date above reflects the current version, and continued use of the App after a change means you accept it.
