Questions
Is it free?
Yes. Helmsman is free during the beta. Pricing comes after launch and will be announced before any paid tier turns on.
Will it be signed and notarized?
That is the plan. The release build will be a signed and notarized macOS app so Gatekeeper opens it without warnings. Until the signed build ships, this page stays in its pre-launch state.
What access does it need?
Only your local machine. Helmsman drives your own Claude Code CLI and owns local terminals on your Mac. It asks for no GitHub or OAuth scopes and relays nothing to a cloud. See the security page for the full story.
How do I update?
At launch, updates arrive in-app. The download here always points at the current release, and every version is listed on the changelog.
